Daily the RR

Track the AMG

Won’t have to work on the Ferrari since it’ll burn to a crisp before I touch it

Track the Rolls Royce because ¯\_()_/¯, DD the AMG that appears to be Pagani Huaryrarwrwrinewopngfieopnfowpnfa, sell the Ferrari and get a FJ45 Pickup to work on. Is that how this works?

DD the Roller, track the Fezza, work on the AMG because it’s an AMG and it’ll blow up eventually.

DD the rolls

Track the Ferrari

Work on the AMG.

The AMG might me the only one that could be remotely possible to work on without requiring animal sacrifices, fairies, and double rainbows.

a real deal 302 like a DZ or MO block or a 327 with a 283 crank? Love those 400's had a 4 bolt 400 for a short time in our 55 chevy, little torque monsters, now just a really hot 70 LT-1 and a 327 in my playtoys

I wouldn’t DD the Rolls because I have a chauffeur to do that for me.

And since I have a chauffeur, I am rich, so I can take the Huayra-AMG and Fezza F12 and do a mix of this ...

its not a “real deal”. i was looking through a magazine and saw an article about destroking. i took an 86ish 350 one piece rms block, and got a crank out of a 94-96 caprice/buick roadmaster with the 4.3(265) v8(one piece rms). the 4.3 has specific 5.94 rods. i had bought a reman from a partshouse, so i didnt have them. i got a set of 6" rods (common large journal) and bought a set of forged pistons. if i had of gotten the 5.94 rods i could of used an off the shelf piston instead of custom.

its got the 1970 z28 style 041x heads with the closed chambers, and the big valves. it has the z28/marine ap. iron intake. small 1 5/8 primary headers. 650 dual line double pumper. snappy little engine. really wakes up after 4000 rpms.

those 4 bolt 400s are about nonexistent. every once in a while you meet someone who says that they saw one in person once. im putting mine together for a 4x4. its got some 291 heads on it (angle plug). i got a “good deal” on them. it was about a fiasco finding headers to fit in a 4x. i eventually chopped up about 5 to get everything placed right, and mended with the hand me down set that i got. its about two weeks out from being done (waiting on polylocks and hardened pushrods)

those lt-1's and 327's are hard to beat for their ability to take whatever you can throw at them.

nice car you got there .

Thanks, yeah we didn’t even know the 400 we had was a 4bolt until we pulled the pan when we got it home, it was in a 56 chevy wagon when we bought it and were just going to stick into the car but two cylinders were low when we did a compression test so pulled it apart and were stumped when we saw the 4 bolt mains, at the time we didn’t even know they existed. sadly the machine shop pretty much ruined the block. We were building it to drag race the 55, so when we had it apart we noticed the pistons were cast, so we asked the machinist to get a set of correct sized forged, motor was bored .40 over, he never checked clearances and when we fired the motor up it rattled like crazy. Went through a lot of guessing before realizing that it was piston slap. In the 20 min max run time the pistons slapped so badly the black coating on the piston skirt had been worn off 4 of the 8 cylinders. At that point we had to cut our losses and sell the motor. Now we are putting a LS motor in the 55.

thats frustrating. all that effort, and attention to detail assembling everything else. all you can do is look at each other (you, and whom ever helped) and say “i know we put our end together right.” and the 20 min of run time is all at decent rpm to break in the new camshaft.hard on parts.

how is the LS coming along?

Still in the planning stages, my grandpa is trying to figure out what exactly he wants, mainly true ls1,2,3,6 or a 5.3 or 6.0 iron block. I’ve got most of the main swap parts figured out. so once he gets his other project wrapped up, a 34 ford pickup hot rod, we can finally start tackling the 55.

its great how the aftermarket latched onto the LS. they have swap parts for most cars already figured out.

sounds like you guys are about project poor.

what kind of 55?

55 Chevy Bel Air 2 door hardtop, my grandparents have owned for about 45 years now. Once we figure out the motor and get it fitted then we will blow it apart to finally repaint the car.

We are never project poor, lol. Once one car is pretty much done one of the others needs work. My truck is next in line will be done alongside the 55. Got to have something to do through the wet winters here in Oregon.

that will be a nice car to have modernized/updated (turn the key and go)

yeah, when youre stuck indoors, and there is nothing else to do. and all you have is time. its a great opportunity, to soak up ALL the wisdom you can off of gramps. theyre sneaky, them old folks, and have a lot of cool tricks.

Yeah I’ve learned a lot growing up in the garage with him but now the tables have turned doing this LS swap.

That's the goal is nice reliable cruiser, been wanting to do the power your for awhile now so this will be the car we do that in

the power is great. spend the time and get it to hook. the old stuff i have feels sketchy in any kind of wet, even in the dry itll spin as far as you hold it.

getting to spend time working with the folks in the garage is about the best you can. they are gone way to quick.

go with the big engine.
